Knottingley Town Hall 22.2.08
Following our equipment workshops the group split into 3 to cover the 3 different floors of the building. Group 1 began in the cellars. We had some success with pendulum divination contacting a woman and small child. Following this vigil two group members remained behind and had extraordinary result speaking to the spirit of a young boy. In order to communicate they showed the boy an EMF meter and the spirit seemed to control the “beeps” and red light to answer yes or no to questions. They even pulled up a chair so the spirit child could sit with them. This “conversation” lasted 15-20 minutes and was all caught on video (hopefully Luke and Chris will be able to send us the footage to post on the site).
Group 3 caught many orbs on camera in the cellar. And heard tapping and what sounded like children playing. Both Kelly and Amanda felt someone move their hair. A few members of the group reported seeing a small girl in the corner and the name Mary or Martha came to mind. This would tie in with the feelings of group 1 during their time in the cellar. Again the EMF meter seemed to react to questions posed to spirits. It must be noted that prior to any vigils in the cellar baseline EMF reading were taken and with the exception of a few electric cables that were taken note of not readings had been recorded.All 3 groups reported seeing small blue lights in the form of a ribbon in the cellar. We could find no obvious explanation for this. None of the groups spoke about what they had experience between vigils so the information was not passed on.
Group 2 on the ground floor dance room had an equally successful vigil capturing many orbs around Chris whilst he was instructing the group on use of the equipment and planchette. The seemed to make contact with a male spirit and the letter “M” was drawn on the paper. One of the guests seemed to make contact with a relative using the Ouija board. This spirit claimed to be a Welsh white witch. This theme carried on when the next group used the board. The lady involved promised to look into the history of her family and we hope that she will let us know if anything significant is found out.
By far the most active of the floors was the top floor where the main ballroom was. All groups experience cold spots, flashing lights, orbs, feelings of unease and being touched. A vigil held by the top of the stairs revealed a love triangle and murder. A man spelling out the name Ginger claimed to have killed his lover (another male, name unclear) because he had spoken of their affair. The Time period was unclear but our mediums had the impression of late 19th early 20th century clothes. Of course a relationship of this nature in this time period could never have been openly discovered without dire consequences. It appears that murder was the result. Interestingly on two previous investigations a similar scenario has been reported.
We ended the night with an exceptional group table tipping. This lasted almost half an hour and at time the table (a plastic garden table) moved in circular movements and forwards and backwards so quickly the group had difficulty keeping in contact with it.
