Derby Gaol

In August the team decided to have some time away from public events to recharge our own energies and do some investigating of our own.  As Derby Gaol is a popular haunt for ghost hunters we dicided to take a look for ourselves to see if its really does live up to its reputation. Here's what we found:-
Neil's report - The KAPS Team arrived at Derby Gaol and descended the stone steps. Our first thoughts were of the size of the gaol, much smaller than we imagined.  When you read how many prisoners where locked down there in small cramped cells you soon imagine the horrid conditions that they had to endure .

The evening started off slowly but I soon found the spirit of a small boy in the debtors cell. The smell and taste at the back of my throat suggested to me that he might have been a chimney sweep. He past on due to ill health, probably breathing problems from the cold and damp as well as the acrid soot he must of breathed in.  This was given to me as the tightness in his chest that I felt. The name I got for him was Robert.

Tow of the other guests were siting at a table and were surprised to feel it vibrate. I sat at the table as well and felt the table it was indeed vibrating. With some coercing and asking out we found it was one of the notorious jailers and with a few choice words the table began to move. Surprisingly  the table spun slowly round and then back several times before stopping .It must have taken a lot of energy from the spirit of  the jailer as the table was very heavy. When the spiritual energy moved away I tried so see how easy it would be to physically move the table and it took me a bit of effort to move it round.
Amanda's report  -  the evening started well, I picked up a man named Edward who had been a prisoner. Merca picked up another man named John who was also a prisoner. We moved to the cells to try a vigil. Both Merca and me felt the presence of a man in the cell. He moved quite close to us and it was not a nice feeling. Edward and John came through again. The two were part of 4 men who were sent away from the prison to another destination and Edward had been murdered before he got there by a John. We got another John there too who was also one of the 4 but he was trying to stop the others communicating with us. Through the Message Board we found that the prisoners were to be transferred to another country which began with A- later Jason found a reference to these men and that Edward had been murdered on the way to Africa. Another man came through on the Message Board and indicated his name was Blythe. He was not a nice man, the glass was moving with some force on the Board and went so fast that it shot off the table smashing a chunk of the glass off!!

We tried some table tipping in the cells and the table was going beserk, infact Edd Felix (son of Richard Felix) who was present on the night commented that he'd not seen the tables move like they did for us for some time. We have found that the more the KAPS team work together the stronger and more frequent the paranormal activity around us becomes and this particular night was no exception.

It was a shame that there were not more areas to go to as there were only 2 cells. It was a hard place to find too, as there were no obvious signs to the Gaol or at the Gaol , just some steps under another property! On the whole we enjoyed the night and the croissants for breakfast, though a bacon sarnie would have topped the night off better...
